Christian Cattle Co. was established in 1996 by Mike and Barbara Christian of Hico. Mike, who was born in Hamilton County, spent a lifetime as an educator and football coach. His experience with Texas youth impressed upon him the importance of “success in achievement” and combined with his love of the cattle business and a niche for top-quality show calves propelled Mike to establish Christian Cattle Co. which today includes 200 registered Angus females as well as a select number of crossbred-club calf producers.

In developing his Angus cowherd Mike sought out genetics with proven show ring success. Females were added from the BSJ Herd of Marshall, which is owned by Bob, Jeanne and Jennifer Ann Smith; the Lastovica program at Fredericksburg and the Wells herd of Hamilton. All these programs had successful shown and raised champions across Texas, including Ft. Worth; San Antonio; Houston, San Angelo; and even been successful at other major events such as  Denver, Kansas City and Louisville. Mothers, sisters and sons of proven champions built the foundation for this program.

In addition to an aggressive A.I. program we have sought out top bulls to use for natural service. Our latest selection, LAF Trademark came to us as the $15,000 top selling bull of the Fall 2008 Lastovica Bull Sale, sired by LaGrand Forum , who was show bull of the year  and out of LAF Jodie, the 2005 FT Worth Jr. Angus Show Champion Female,  we have high hopes this bull will continue a tradition of siring functional Angus cattle who have that winning look.

A home-raised sire, CCC “Coach” has already produced exciting results, including siring the first place lightweight Angus steer at the 2009 Ft. Worth Stock Show. His second calf crop is on the ground and steers like “Amos” are available.

Success in Achievement has become the battle cry at Christian Cattle Co. “I do appreciate the hard work and desire to achieve of the young exhibitor whose goal is to have success in the showring," Mike says. "We feel the lessons of responsibilty, the fun and enjoyment, and the great relationships developed by young exhibitors and their families is an experience our customers should have. For this reason we will work with the novice to the veteran in order to find a steer or heifer that meets their needs."
